Hi, my name is Kirsty and I work as a community engagement assistant on the services team. I joined FACT back in February 2018 as a volunteer, then joined with a permanent position in March 2018.

In December 2014 I sadly lost one of my friends to breast cancer, I was angry and upset that we couldn't do anything for her. Weeks passed and I still felt the same, I decided to take my mind off it and organise an event. I decided to challenge myself to organise a charity ball in memory of Maxine.

When you believe so much in something its amazing how successful it turns out to be. The organising of the event and hosting the event on the night was such a pleasure it was then I decided I wanted to work in the charity sector.

Before accepting my position at FACT I worked in our family run cafe called Mrs Miggins based in Hexham. My role at Mrs Miggins was a management role, I was responsible for opening and closing, banking weekly takings and staff rotas. Such a change in role to what I do now!

In my free time I like to socialise with friends and family, after the passing of Maxine I find spending time with loved ones very important. If I find myself with a free afternoon, I like to watch my brother play cricket and football. In the summer, my Saturday afternoons are taken up watching local cricket matches and in the winter my Sunday mornings are taken up with football matches.
