Sue Sweeney will be working for Fighting All Cancers Together (FACT).

After parting ways with radio, the North East star moves onto pastures new and will be taking on a role at FACT’s head office, Denise Robertson House, in Swalwell. The presenter joins FACT as we move into our 11th year of helping people in the North East affected by cancer.

FACT are continuing to grow with several shops dotted around the North East and annual events getting bigger by the year - as well attendee numbers growing at their weekly sessions at Denise Robertson House.

Sweeney broke the news via a statement posted on her Twitter in which she said:  “After 22 years in radio, its’s time to hang up my headphones I loved every second of presenting my shows. I can’t thank you all enough for inviting me into your homes and sharing your weekends with me. More and more of you were joining in - and we didn’t half have a giggle!

I didn’t have the chance to say goodbye to you and so I’d like to take the opportunity to do that now…. (See full statement @SueSweeneyComic)

“Moving forward, I am very excited to be taking on a role with FACT (Fighting All Cancers Together). I have been a patron of the charity for five years and I am very proud of the work they do. I’m looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and starting a new adventure.”

FACT founder and Chief Executive Joanne Smith is delighted and said: "It has been fantastic to have Sue as part of our FACT family as a Patron and we are looking forward to seeing her more in her new role at Denise Robertson House.  It is as if it was meant to be as the comedienne’s starts her new job on April Fools Day!"
